Crossbuck Brewing and its sister business, Walla Walla Steak Co., recently opened a new location in Woodinville, Washington. (We previously reported on the plan here.) The original location in Walla Walla is a fine dining steakhouse attached to a brewery and taproom. The Woodinville location follows suit: steakhouse attached to a brewery’s taproom. The beer is brewed in Walla Walla.

As you might expect, the steakhouse is fancier than the taproom. The Crossbuck Brewing taproom in Woodinville is described as casual, though the pictures and videos I’ve seen make the new taproom look pretty stylin’. (We’ll get out there soon and give you firsthand report. Stay tuned.)

One of the cool things about the Walla Steak Co./Crossbuck Brewing configuration is that in the taproom you can order off of either menu. Get taproom grub like fish and chips, a fried chicken sandwich, or a Crossbuck Burger. Go big and get the 34-ounce Prime ribeye from the steakhouse. Your choice. You can see the taproom’s food menu here.

This steakhouse and taproom is part of The Schoolhouse District, a new mixed-use development built around a historic schoolhouse. It combines retail with residential to create a “walk anywhere” community. Insite Property Solutions is managing the project. It includes 266 apartments, as well as restaurants, winery tasting rooms, and other businesses.

The project gets its name from the historic schoolhouse on the site, which was originally built in 1909 but has been empty for the past decade. The actual schoolhouse is now home to Walla Walla Steak Co. and Crossbuck Brewing. We originally introduced you to Crossbuck Brewing back in 2019.

“Woodinville is the perfect home for our second location with its welcoming community, vibrant wine tourism industry and beautiful, surrounding farmland,” said Dan Thiessen, owner and managing partner, Walla Walla Steak Co., Crossbuck Brewing and Yellowhawk Resort. “We hope our new neighbors enjoy our boots and blue jean-style steakhouse and family-friendly taproom, and we are proud to begin creating new traditions in this historic building.”
