Collabruary – a celebration of collaboration with Brothers Cascadia Brewing & friends

Quarantine, isolation, and social distancing are terms we’ve heard a lot over the past year. The current reality does not lend itself to hugs, handshakes, face-to-face meetings, and collaboration. In the world of craft beer, collaboration serves a few different purposes but mostly it’s just fun. Brothers Cascadia Brewing in Vancouver, WA was sorely missing the comradery of collaboration, so they came up with a plan to kickoff 2021.

Collabrurary is currently underway and runs through February. Basically, they said, “Pandemic be damned, we’re making some collab beers with our friends.” Brothers Cascadia teamed up with 12 different breweries (listed below) to safely produce 12 different beers that are releasing as Collabruary rolls along. For the artwork, they teamed up with seven local artists.

All you need to do is drink the beers, which you’ll find at Brothers Cascadia Brewing’s location in Vancouver, the partner brewery for each beer, and some better beer retailers. Swing by the Brothers Cascadia taproom and pick up your Collabruary Passport, fill it out and earn a prize when it’s all over.

According to Sherman Gore, one of the owners of Brothers Cascadia, “The Collabruary idea really came out of a round table meeting in November, involving sales staff, brew staff, and ownership, talking about 2020 and things we missed the most due to the new reality.”

“What kept coming up was missing the camaraderie with our fellow breweries,” he said. “It’s a great way to make and build relationships, learn new techniques, an incredible avenue for creativity in numerous areas and most of all, it’s just damn fun.”

The conversations about collaboration led to the formulation of the plan for Collabruary. Basically, jump back into it as best they could under the current circumstances and produce a whole spate of collaboration beers with their friend from across the region.

“We came up with the collaborating breweries through a mix of a ‘wish-list’ and people that we just missed seeing and talking to,” explained Sherman. “We are also just as excited to be able to work with 7 different artists on this project, who were selected for the same reasons.”

Find, drink and enjoy all the different collaboration beers at Brothers Cascadia, the partnering breweries, and select local beer outlets this January and February.
