We’ve just closed our first poll –Seattle’s best brew pub– and the results will be posted soon. We have already posted a new poll. This time we’re asking you to select your favorite Seattle-area beer bar. There are a lot of them around here and we’ve only included the ones that we think are most likely to get votes. This isn’t a comprehensive list, we know. We also provide you with the ability to write-in any establishment that is not on the list.

We’d like to remind you that by “Seattle-area” we do not mean Tacoma, Olympia, Everett or Spokane, but we have included Renton and Redmond (eastside). Also, by “beer bar” we do not mean brew pub. If they make beer, they are a brew pub and not a beer bar.

The poll is over there in the sidebar on the right. You know what to do.

  1. No Stumbling Monk on the list? But Malt and Vine is? Malt and Vine is a bottle store first, beer bar second (and only barely at that).
I know you said you can do write-ins, but as any political candidate knows, that practically guarantees not winning. Plus your poll results page doesn’t even allow viewing the write-in responses.

  2. Thank you for your opinion Patrick. Allowing people to see the write-in responses would, I’m afraid, turn the comments section into a name-calling contest. We get some interesting write-in votes, to say the least.

  3. If you add Stumbling Monk, I would request that you also add the Piper’s Creek Pub and Barking Dog Alehouse too.

  4. I have added Stumbling Monk, Barking Dog and Pub at Pipers to the list.
Cheers and thanks for the input.

  5. As I said earlier, I think it would be distracting and off-topic to show the write-in votes; however, we monitor the voting carefully. If we see a place that is getting write-in votes that is worthy of being added to the list (meaning it really is a good beer bar) then we will add it to the list. In the end, we will add any write-in votes to the total.
