New format, new location, new dates for Seattle’s biggest winter beer festival

The Winter Beer Fest always sells out. This year, the new format and new location promise to make the event more popular than ever. You have a chance to sign up for pre-sale tickets. You’ll secure your tickets before they go on sale to the general public. There are a very limited number of presale tickets available, so get on the list now and the event organizers will let you know when to pull the trigger.

New Format: This year, Winter Beer Fest is going token-free. That means you’ll get as many samples as you like. No more fumbling through your pockets to find that precious last token. Obviously, everyone is encouraged and expected to behave responsibly, but no more tokens and no more silly wristbands.

New Location: For the past decade, Hangar 30 at Seattle’s Magnuson Park hosted the Winter Beer Fest. This year, the City of Seattle changed the way it managed reservations at that location and switched to a lottery system. The Washington Brewers Guild did not win the lottery so it needed to find a new location for the event. This year the event will take place at Victory Hall at The Boxyard, right across the street from T-Mobile Park, in the building that was formerly the long-time home of Pyramid Brewing (1201 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134).

The new location provides some advantages. Most significantly, it is centrally located with easy freeway access and easy access to public transportation, including a Link Light Rail station just a few blocks away. There was something quaint about the historic Hangar 30, but Victory Hall is new and, comparatively, it’s kind of fancy.

New Dates: This year, Winter Beer Fest takes place on Friday and Saturday, December 20th and 21st. There will be just one session per day: a Friday night session and a Saturday afternoon session. With just two sessions, early access to tickets is even more important. They’ll offer a ticket upgrade option that gets you early entry. Most important, get on the presale list.

The Washington Brewers Guild promises some other exciting changes to the event, but one thing is not changing: the participating breweries are going to pull out all the stops and create some amazing beers for this event. That includes some beers produced specifically for the event. If you’re familiar with Winter Beer Fest, you know what I’m talking about.
