Washington and Oregon Bring Home an Impressive 56 Medals from the World Beer Cup
The World Beer Cup is an international beer competition organized by the Brewers Association, widely dubbed “the Olympics of Beer.” Founded in 1996 by Charlie Papazian, it was held biennially until 2022, then shifted to an annual format. It is the largest beer competition in the world, with judges from dozens of countries evaluating thousands of entries across more than 100 style categories. In summary, winning a medal carries enormous prestige, whether a brewery is well-known and highly decorated, like Reuben’s Brews or Breakside Brewing, or an emerging, yet unknown newcomer, like Bend’s UPP Liquids.
