Tacoma Rainiers Showing WA Beer Some Love

The Tacoma Rainiers are stepping up to the plate in support of Washington beer. Tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 11) the Mariners Triple-A affiliate baseball team presents the first Microbrew Wednesday of the season. Each Wednesday home game, the Rainiers will welcome a different Washington craft brewery to Cheney Stadium to showcase its beers. In addition to the beer, expect to see brewery representatives talking to thirsty baseball fans. The select beers will be available on the stadium’s mezzanine level (more info about that below).

American Brewing Company will be the first Washington brewery featured–American Brewing will be at tomorrow night’s (April 11th) Microbrew Wednesday. They’ll be pouring Breakaway IPA and Caboose Oatmeal Stout. Other breweries participating in Microbrew Wednesday throughout the season include Schooner Exact Brewing, Iron Horse Brewery, Silver City Brewery, Diamond Knot Brewing and Skagit River Brewing. Each week Tacoma’s own Harmon Brewing will also have a beer featured. Amidst all of this great Washington beer, for one of the Microbrew Wednesdays the Rainiers will welcome Deschutes Brewing.

Access to the mezzanine level is reserved for season ticket holders and other “VIPs.” You can win mezzanine tickets to Microbrew Wednesday games on a number of local Clear Channel radio stations around town. Clear Channel will be running promotions on various local stations, including KJR-AM Sports Radio, KJR-FM Classic Hits, KHHO-AM, KUBE-FM, KKBW-FM, KBKS-FM, and KNBQ-FM.

Exactly how you can get mezzanine level tickets without being a season ticket holder, a contest winner, or a VIP is unclear.

Of the week’s featured beers, at least one of them will be available on tap on the main level (first base concession area). Which beer will be available varies from week to week and is likely subject to change.

Beyond that, details are a bit difficult to pin down. We have yet to see an official press release about this and I have pieced this information together via email and phone.
