Results from the 2010 NABA Competition

The results have been released for the 2010 North American Brewers Association (NABA) awards. Washington breweries took home a total of 22 medals, including 9 gold medals. Washington’s showing included a clean sweep of the Scotch Ale category.

The North American Beer Awards, held in conjunction with the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest, is a unique event sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association (NABA). Over 1,000 beers compete in 27 different categories. The competition provides an opportunity for commercially produced beers to be judged against the best beers in the country. The event is conducted as a single blind sampling followed by rank ordering of the entries within each category.

Judges at the annual NABA sanctioned beer awards include brew masters from major national breweries as well as experts from small, independent breweries. Also judging are beer journalists and certified judges. Evaluation and judging of beers are conducted in sessions which lead to the award of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
