A few days ago, Malt & Vine announced that it was closing down. The venerable Redmond beer destination is currently running an “everything must go” sale, with the final day of operation slated for July 30th.
Malt & Vine opened for business 15 years ago. Likely, many of you either were not living in the Seattle area yet or were not drinking craft beer yet when Malt & Vine opened its doors for the first time. Trust me, the world looked a lot different back then. The term bottleshop was not common, nor was a good beer bar in the town of Redmond. Or anywhere, for that matter.
Today, craft beer enthusiasts take a lot of things for granted, but it wasn’t always so easy to find a place that offered a curated selection of craft beer. That’s why Malt & Vine deserves to be remembered as a groundbreaker, a pioneer, a visionary.
But time takes its toll. The world keeps turning and nothing lasts forever. Cheers to you, Malt & Vine. We will remember you fondly!
