Live from Airways Brewing

Airways Brewing is open special hours from 1 to 3 this afternoon (they are usually open Thursday and Friday 4 to 8 p.m.), so we decided to pop by and check them out. Nice little tasting room in a North Kent business park, with bar and table seating and beer by the pint and growler.

Their regular lineup includes a honey blonde, which has more bite and flavor than I was expecting, an ESB, a chocolate stout and Seven Series IPA, which is quite good – floral, fruity and on the overhopped side of balanced. In other words, near perfect. Today they also have a special beer on, an ESP which is a Cascade-dry-hopped version of the ESB. Alex Dittmar, owner/brewer, says he is working on a triple chocolate stout for the WABL bus tour and Hops N Props event in April (to find out about the former visit www.washingtonbeer.com; the latter is sold out).
