At the recently concluded 2025 American Hop Convention in Coronado, California, John I. Haas was awarded the Top of the Trellis Award for its commitment to sustainable hop farming. The John I. Haas facility in Yakima, Washington, is a hotbed of hop innovations of all kinds, developing new hop varieties, farming practices, and hop-based products. Although the beer-drinking public might not recognize the name, we have all tasted the fruits of John I. Haas’ work in our beer.

The Top of the Trellis Award is presented by the Hop Growers of America to recognize an exceptional commitment to sustainable hop farming. Haas’ commitment to sustainability is reflected in its advanced farming practices, dedication to reducing energy needs, and attention to water management.
