Okay, so this is happy and exciting news! El Sueñito Brewing is coming to Seattle. The Bellingham-based brewery recently announced its plan to open a location in the Fremont neighborhood. They’ve not yet announced an exact opening date, but we expect to hear details soon. The location is near The George and Dragon Pub, for those familiar with the neighborhood. El Sueñito Brewing describes itself as a child company of Frelard Tamales. If you’ve visited the Bellingham brewery’s taproom you know it is a tamale shop, too. And the tamales are outstanding!

On social media, El Sueñito Brewing announced it is bringing its beer and 1/2-pound tamales to Seattle. The tamales, of course, have been around for a while. Dennis Ramey and Osbaldo Hernandez (above) opened Frelard Tamales in 2015, on Latona Avenue. (Right across the street from the much-beloved Latona Pub, btw.) The recipes are based on Osbaldo Hernandez’s family recipes.

Dennis and Osbaldo went on to open El Sueñito Brewing in February 2023. Dennis earned his brewing chops working with the likes of Hellbent Brewing in Seattle. To learn more about El Sueñito Brewing’s backstory, check out this story I wrote in 2021.

On Instagram recently, El Sueñito Brewing announced the following. “¡HOLA SEATTLE! We would like to take a second of your time to do a brief introduction: We are El Sueñito Brewing Company and we happen to be the child company of @frelardtamales – the place you’ve come to love for their 1/2 lb. tamales.”

“We happen to be Washington’s first Mexican and gay-owned brewery & we are so excited to join the Fremont neighborhood in Seattle in a few weeks! Our Fremont location will combine the magical & delicious flavors of Frelard Tamales with our refreshing craft beers specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. For some of you, our brews won’t be new as you all have been enjoying our beers made available at various delightful watering holes and stores across the Puget Sound like @pccmarkets, @chuckshopshopseward, @thelatonapub, @bottleworksbeer, @watershedpub, and others.”

“Our construction project is coming to an end soon and we are actively hiring our founding team so we can open our doors in a few weeks. We are thrilled about our Frelard Tamales x Sueñito partnership to provide a unique and rich dining experience for all of our fans that is rooted in our love and passion for food, craft beer, tradition and Mexican culture.”
