This Saturday, September 10th, Cider Summit Seattle (blog sponsor) takes place at Discovery Center Park in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. The event –an epic cider festival that runs from 11:00 – 7:00– features the region’s largest sampling opportunity of many of the world’s great ciders. Many of the producers are from the Pacific Northwest, but many out-of-state and international ciders will also be there.
For the uninitiated, Cider Summit Seattle will blow your mind. There is more to this whole “cider thing” than you are imagining. Prepare ye for a cider epiphany.
More than just a festival, Cider Summit Seattle marks the kickoff of Washington Cider Week. Bars, bottleshops and restaurants around Seattle and across the state will host some great events showcasing the wonderful world of cider.
I am fortunate that Mrs. Beerblog is a bit of a cider geek as well as a beer geek. I have always enjoyed a nice cider, but honestly didn’t realize how much the world of cider really had to offer until she started to introduce me to the good stuff. Why, I even have a favorite cider now: Pirate’s Plank from Alpenfire.
