Bale Breaker brings a new IPA from the farms to the ferries

As the world’s soccer fans turn their eyes to Seattle this summer for the FIFA World Cup, Washington State Ferries will celebrate its 75th anniversary. These two events are not related, but the timing presented an opportunity to create a new beer. Or two.

Bale Breaker Brewing teamed up with its distribution partner (NW Beverages), Washington State Ferries, and Sodexo (the food and beverage vendor on the boats) to create a new IPA. As the state’s ferry fleet celebrates the milestone, Bale Breaker Brewing makes for a great partner. It is vertically integrated across the Washington agricultural and beer industries, with roots deep in the state’s hop-growing history.

You’ll find the beer on the boats starting this week. Now through July, look for From Farms to Ferries IPA on ferry boats across Western Washington. The beer is available in 16-oz cans.

Soon, Bale Breaker Brewing and the other parties involved will get together in Yakima to brew a second beer. That beer will be available on draft on the ferries and at Bale Breaker’s taprooms in Seattle and Yakima. Look for that beer, on tap, sometime in late May or early June. Both beers are (will be) exclusively available on Washington State Ferries and at Bale Breaker’s taprooms.
