This weekend you don’t have to be a football fan (or any type of sports fan for that matter) to get into the rivalry that is the 103rd edition of the Apple Cup. Whether you are a Husky or a Cougar, the Apple Cup brings the state of Washington together. It doesn’t matter if you are a WSU alum that frequented The Coug or Shakers in Pullman, and considered Busch Light a staple in your diet…or a Husky who created college memories at The Duchess Tavern or Northlake Tavern & Pizza House. It is fun to see the state cheering their favorite teams, wearing purple & gold or crimson & gray to work on Friday, or seeing the college logos all over Facebook.
While the game will be decided on the field in chilly Pullman on Saturday (4 p.m.), this is the perfect opportunity for fans of Washington (Cougars & Huskies) to support Washington Beer!
Whether it is picking up growlers of Pullman’s own Palouse Falls Brewing or Paradise Creek Brewing, or picking up a few bottles from Big Time Brewing on The Ave, support a Washington Brewery when the Cougs and Huskies clash on the gridiron.
Side Note – My wife (UW class of 2000) and I (WSU class of 2000) live in a divided household, so this time of year is extra special for bragging rights. Growlers of Washington’s finest will also be served during the game.
