It’s that time of year. Dust off your best Rainier-themed costume as Rainier Beer returns to Georgetown for its annual ‘‘R-Day’ celebration on September 12th, offering a completely FREE event with no ticket required.
What is R-Day?
The big-ass 21+ party takes over the streets of the Georgetown neighborhood to celebrate Rainier Beer and Seattle. Think of it as an extended, all-day beer garden with lots of Rainier-themed fun stuff, food, and music. Beyond the Rainier beer gardens, there’s a lot of great beer in Georgetown. So go drink it.
Although it is no longer brewed in Seattle, Rainier Beer is an iconic brand that for decades was recognized as Seattle’s beer. The brand and its famous marketing campaigns were always a bit irreverent, quirky and fun, so this celebration adopts the same tone. R Day is all about community pride and beer-fueled nostalgic revelry. It is a proper hootenanny.
This Year’s R-Day Event
This year’s musical lineup taps into the Pacific Northwest’s raw and rising indie scene, with Kadabra headlining the block party, bringing their heavy, psych-tinged doom rock, joined by the genre-blurring sounds of Telehealth and the jangly, post-punk–inflected indie rock of DEHD, rounding out a lineup that spans heavy psych to off-kilter indie.
Attendees can sip Rainier beer from multiple on-site beer gardens or pop into one of the independent Georgetown bars that have kept the Old Seattle vibe alive for decades. The free-to-play aRCade returns for another year of neighborhood glory — and new for 2026, R-Day will debut a food truck garden with dedicated seating, giving fans even more reason to sip, sit, and stay a while.
