My intention was to introduce each Washington-brewed, Pride-themed beer with its own post, but that plan was thwarted, happily, by the sheer volume of beer. I am going to consolidate them here. I will add to the list as I find more. The most recent discoveries are at the top. (Picture above from Instagram: Ian, Kevin, and Dean of Future Primitive Brewing, brewers of Queer Beer IPA. Details below.)
This year, more than any year I can remember, a lot of local breweries feel inspired to create beers that embrace the ethos of inclusion and diversity. Other breweries found different ways to celebrate and support Pride. After all, love is love and so is beer.
Georgetown Brewing – 1969 IPA
Georgetown Brewing – “Our annual Pride beer, 1969 IPA, is now available on tap and in growlers to go! Named after the year of the Stonewall riots that sparked the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, this year’s version uses an experimental hop from Segal Ranches, giving this hazy IPA aromas and flavors of pineapple, candy peach, green tea and ripe orange. And to show you how much we love y’all, we also have a selection of hats for whatever mood you fancy – tie dye bucket? foam + mesh? tropical flatbill? 100% of proceeds from beer sales, and 100% of profits from hat sales, will be donated to @lavenderrightsproject – an organization committed to providing social and legal advocacy for Black gender diverse people across Washington State.”
Dru Bru – Mango Glitter Pale Ale
Dru Brew – “Dru Bru is proud to release our Mango Glitter Pale Ale, the Angel Dust! Using various hops, we add mango puree and edible glitter to create a hoppy, fruity, and sparkly ale that pleases the palette and the eyes. Part of the proceeds from this beer will be benefiting the Helen House, an organization in Kittitas county that gives power to, and validates LGBTQ+ youth and young adults, fostering self-exploration, self-expression, and self-acceptance. ABV 5.0%. Available in either taprooms on draft and to-go!”
Stoup Brewing – Rainbow Bubbles IPA
Stoup Brewing – “Our Stoup Pride month IPA is simply joy in a glass. Feast your eyes on a giddy dance of bubbles in every color of the rainbow while enjoying the aromas of Hallertau Blanc, Nelson Sauvin and HBC 630. So as not to overpower the delicate aromas of gooseberry, white grape and tropical fruit, we kept a malt bill soft with additions of wheat and Pilsner malt. It’s moderately dry and extremely crushable. We raise a glass of Rainbow Bubbles IPA to equality, compassion, and the incredible gift of loving people for who they are.”
Proceeds of this beer will support a local organization that lifts our LGBTQ+ community.
Stoup Brewing – Paraderade IPA
Stoup Brewing – “Our LGBTQIA+ friends and allies are coming together to celebrate a vibrant, beautiful community. We brewed this beer to help fuel the passion for equality and acceptance and also to just have some fun together. While Pride is much more than a parade, we still love a good march down the street. Think of this beer as fuel for your Pride parade! Hops: Enigma, Chinook and Comet.”
Stoup Brewing – Wednesday fundraisers
Stoup Brewing – Every Wednesday this #pridemonth Stoup Brewing’s goal is to support a local #lgbtq organization and artist! Today (June 8th), we’ll be hosting a benefit all day long to support @lavenderrightsproject, a grassroots organization providing advocacy, programs, and legal services for Black gender diverse communities.
