District Brewing Company opens its third location on Wednesday, May 1st near the town of Lynden in Washington’s Whatcom County. District Brewing is headquartered in Mount Vernon where it operates a taproom and produces its beer.

The company’s second location is in Ferndale. The new taproom will offer 24 draft taps, appetizers, pizza, wings, and salads, as well as cider, seltzers, kombucha, and non-alcoholic beverage options. The new location is at Hinotes Corner–the intersection of Hannegan Road and East Pole Road –just 4 miles south of Lynden and 6 miles west of Everson (6912 Hannegan Rd, Lynden, WA 98264). Like the other two District Brewing locations, the new spot will be family-friendly.

Owners Mark and Amy Shintaffer (pictured above) launched District Brewing in 2020 in Mount Vernon, then opened a Ferndale taproom in 2022. Mark Shintaffer is a native of Whatcom County, a Ferndale High School graduate, has lived in the Everson area for more than 20 years, and has raised his family in Nooksack Valley schools. That means he has plenty of connections in North Whatcom County, so his requests for local sports memorabilia to display in the new location did not go unheard. It’s a Shintaffer/District Brewing thing: the Ferndale location is adorned with plenty of Ferndale High School sports memorabilia, for example. “We’re going to be a fun place for families and friends to gather,” Shintaffer said.

Something unique to the Lynden location, a separate 21+ venue called District Etc. will open across the parking lot in a few months. The main space offers an outdoor seating area with games and firepits. The new taproom and restaurant will be open from 12:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday through Thursday. 12:00 until 9:00 P.M on Fridays and Saturdays.
