Métier Brewing’s Rodney Hines elected to PCC Board of Trustees

Congratulations are in order. An important member of the local beer industry, Rodney Hines, is now in a key leadership position at PCC Community Markets.

With over 114,000 members, PCC Community Markets is the largest consumer-owned food cooperative in the United States. Membership is not required to shop at one PCC’s 15 stores scattered around the Greater Seattle Area, from Burien to Bothell, Edmonds to Issaquah. Because it’s a co-op, a board elected by the Active Membership directs PCC. The board is comprised of up to 13 trustees. PCC members just elected Rodney Hines to serve as one of those trustees. Rodney is also the CEO and one of the founders of Métier Brewing.

Is there a direct benefit to having a member of the local brewing industry sitting on the board? Maybe so, maybe not, but it certainly does not hurt. PCC members elect trustees to three-year terms, and the board is authorized to appoint individuals to fill board vacancies. Elected trustees may serve up to a maximum of three consecutive three-year terms.

Rodney Hines is the CEO/Chief Mission Guy for Métier Brewing Company, established in 2018. The company operates two locations: the brewery and taproom in Woodinville and the Cherry Street taproom in Seattle’s Central District. Also, the company brews at Steelheads Alley, the beer-focused brewery and bar operated by the Seattle Mariners in the former home of Pyramid Brewing.

Beyond Métier Brewing, Rodney is Co-Chair of the Mosaic State Brewers Collective, which works to inspire and empower underrepresented people to build careers in the beer industry. And beyond that, he champions businesses to measure success through profitability and civic responsibility. He served as Director of Social Impact at Starbucks, and Executive Director of the Starbucks Foundation. His 30-plus-year career spans corporate, public policy, and nonprofit leadership roles. He serves on community advisory councils for the Seattle Art Museum and Seattle University. He also advises local corporations in their philanthropic and community investment efforts.
