Downtown Bellingham hosts a community-focused parade to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and honor local safety personnel. As in years past, the parade ends at Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro. That’s where the shenanigans really begin. The party spills out of the bistro and into the beer garden. Expect live Irish music and authentic Irish dancing. And of course beer! It’s always a hell of a craic and a damned fine hooley!
This year, it all goes down on Sunday, March 17th. The 14th annual parade and festivities begin at noon and the hootenanny commences immediately following at Boundary Bay Brewery. Everyone is invited to participate. Only motorized vehicles need to register. Just show up and pedal, push, and march to the party at the finish line.
The parade route is not long, just about a half mile, and starts at Waypoint Park, which is near Kulshan Brewing’s seasonal beer garden: Kulshan Trackside, for those familiar with that summertime, fun time location. More details are provided below from Boundary Bay Brewery.
Downtown Bellingham To Turn Into A Sea of Green For The Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade
Preparations are in full swing for the Sunday, March 17th Bellingham St Patrick’s Day Parade. 2024 marks 14 years of this fun, community focused celebration.
The parade was created as a way to honor all local public safety personnel and thank them for their hard work and dedication to the community. Lieutenant Claudia Murphy is this year’s Grand Marshal. Lieutenant Murphy’s involvement in community relations has been instrumental to the parade’s success over the years. She will lead the parade of green clad musicians, dancers, marchers, local businesses, nonprofits, schools and groups which all make Bellingham and Whatcom County unique and special.
Excitement surrounding the lucky double 7 anniversary is apparent by the community groups who have registered to participate. There is still time to join the parade. Groups without vehicles are not required to register. Those who would like to participate are to gather on Laurel St, off Cornwall Ave ready to march.
The parade of green starts on Granary Ave., turns right onto Chestnut, and ends on Railroad Ave, in front of Boundary Bay Brewery, Bellingham’s unofficial St Patrick’s Day headquarters.
The shenanigans continue after the parade. Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro will have live Irish music and dancers and the Beer Garden will be open to all ages. Other businesses will be open with Irish offerings and festivities to enjoy.
