We sadly reported yesterday the news that Washington brewing icon Dick Young had unexpectedly passed away. As promised, we will pass along any information as it becomes available. Today, a story about Dick’s passing was published by the Chronicle (the Centralia-based newspaper serving Lewis County). That story confirms a few things we’d heard.
An aortic aneurysm suffered Sunday afternoon caused Dick’s death. He and his fiancée were at his cabin near Riffe Lake, just outside of Morton, WA, at the time. They apparently were landscaping. By the time they were able to get him to Morton General Hospital, Dick was pronounced dead.
We still have no details about a memorial service or how Dick’s many friends and fans can make their remembrances.

Thanks for doing some leg work regarding additional details. Last night I went to Bottleworks to pick up some of “Dick’s” beers. BW was kind enough to offer their condolences by ensuring there was enough on hand for those that wished to toast him.
