Big Al Brewing Time Capsule Series. Another Brett beer unearthed

Last July I told you about the Time Capsule Wild Ale series of beers from Big Al Brewing (read it). That beer was a Brett IPA – fruity, funky and delicious. Today I tell you about another in the series: August 2014, a hopped farmhouse ale fermented with Brettanomyces. The Time Capsule Wild Ale series is all about barrel-aged beers, so the concept is pretty straightforward: put the beer in a barrel, tuck it away and wait.

Whenever I think of a time capsule, I think of a cartoon frog singing, “Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime doll…” Maybe you also grew up on Loony Toons cartoons and remember what I’m talking about. This kind of time capsule is much more fun for grownups and involves no mustachioed construction workers.

big_al_time_cap_aug14Keep an eye out for the new Time Capsule Wild Ale, in bottles and on draft. Last summer’s Brett IPA was pretty amazing. Here’s the official info from Big Al Brewing:

Big Al Brewing’s Time Capsule Series celebrates the wild side of brewing! These beers are brewed with wild yeasts and bacteria that create interesting, complex and delightful flavors that take the tasting and enjoyment of beer to a whole new level. These wild beers change with time and this series celebrates the moment in time they came to life. Many of the beers from this series will be aged for several years! Give them a try, share them with your customers and you’ll be expanding your beer awareness beyond your wildest (pun intended) dreams! Pretty soon you’ll be using words like brettanomyces, lactobacillus and pediococcus in your everyday conversations. Don’t worry, we’ll be right there with you the whole way!
