Women in Beer returns to Pike Brewing next Monday,

The event returns on Monday, May 22nd with a new purpose. And now there’s a beer too!

It’s a Seattle Beer Week event. See all our posts about Seattle Beer Week 2023 events. Visit the Seattle Beer Week website for a calendar of all events.

For several years, Women in Beer was one of the most popular events during Seattle Beer Week. No doubt, it will be popular again this year, so get tickets now. Women in Beer is more than a beer fest. It’s an interactive, multi-level tasting experience filled with food and drinks from forward-thinking businesses that are leading the charge to accelerate diversity and equality throughout industries across the Northwest and beyond.

In 2020, everything changed for Women in Beer. Not only because of the pandemic but because the person who served as the main visionary behind Women in Beer passed away. The beer world is still mourning the loss of Pike Brewing’s Grand Dame, Rose Anne Finkel.

The event is now a fundraiser for the newly created Rose Ann Finkel Diversity in Brewing Scholarship, which benefits the upcoming Brewery Certificate Program at Washington State University’s Viticulture and Enology program.

Rose Ann Finkel was one of the founders of Pike Brewing, among many other things. She was a pioneer who helped forge the way for women in a largely male-dominated industry. Rose Ann passed away in June 2020. The scholarship program is a fitting tribute to her memory.

Women in Beer takes place on May 22nd in conjunction with Seattle Beer Week. The event brings together a diverse, eclectic group of business leaders to raise funds for the inaugural scholarship program. Tickets for the always-popular Women in Beer event are on sale now. Pike Brewing will release more details in the coming weeks. Get tickets and learn more at the official event website.

Introducing Respect IPA

Pike Brewing will also release a beer to benefit the Rose Ann Finkel Diversity in Brewing Scholarship. Respect IPA is described as a fruit-forward, smooth, and balanced Cryo-Hop IPA. In producing the beer, read Brewer Leslie Shore and her team utilized three frozen fresh hop varieties in the whirlpool: Azacca, Citra, and Mosiac. Then they finished it with dry-hop additions of Amarillo and Idaho 7.

Pike Brewing will donate a portion of the proceeds from all beer sales to the
scholarship fund, and during Seattle Beer Week (May 19-26), it will donate $1 from each pint sold at its three locations: Pike Pub, Pike Fish Bar, Pike Taproom Ballard. Respect IPA is available beginning May 1. Available in 4-packs of 16-oz cans at on tap at select locations.
