Lucky Envelope Brewing, The Fire Horse, and what it all means

Say Hello to the Fire Horse

Happy New Year! Today is the actual Lunar New Year (Tuesday, Feb. 17), but Lucky Envelope Brewing will host its annual celebration this Saturday, February 21. You are invited to the brewery’s taproom in Ballard to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse.

Fire Horse years only occur once every 60 years, so the last one was 1966. It is considered a year marked by intensity, rapidly moving energy, bold ambition, and high-stakes change. In Chinese astrology and mythology, the horse symbolizes strength, speed, unbridled freedom, and uncompromising resolve. Combine those attributes with the element of fire and hold on. It is said that in the Year of the Fire Horse, falsehoods will no longer enjoy acceptance, and more people will accept the truth. Perhaps the Fire Horse will provide us with a wild ride.

The Event and Beer Releases

“Join us as we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with a full day of good food, great company, and special collaboration beers brewed just for the occasion,” said Lucky Envelope Brewing. “Doors open at noon, so come settle in and celebrate with us all afternoon and evening.”

Along with all the beautiful beer, The Hall Group is providing a pop-up: a Smashburger Pop-Up from 12-3 pm. (The Hall’s smashburgers are legendary, BTW).  Also, Panda Dim Sum will be there from  4-8:30 pm.

  • Fire Horse Chocolate Porter (a collab with Highland Brewing of Ashville, NC)
  • Forbidden Rice Lager (collaboration with Ladd & Lass Brewing and Halcyon Brewing)
  • Orange Krush IPA
  • POG Sour
  • 2026 Double Happiness Barrel-Aged Stout

“Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, staying for dim sum, or settling in for a few celebratory pours, we’d love to ring in the Lunar New Year with you.”

The Hall Group Lunar New Year Beer Offerings

To welcome the Fire Horse, Lucky Envelope Brewing teamed up with The Hall Group, which operates three outstanding, beer-focused locations around Seattle: Queen Anne Beer Hall, The Hall on Occidental, and Moss Bay Hall. The result was a collaboration beer, a West Coast IPA that The Hall will feature at its locations. Also, they’ll pour Lucky Envelope’s Ube Coconut Pineapple Sour.

Hall of Flame West Coast IPA – collaboration with The Hall Group – (6.8% ABV) – In partnership with The Hall Group, we present an unapologetically bold and dry West Coast IPA. Brewed on a lean pilsner base, we dose with heavy amounts of Citra, Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin, Columbus Cryo, and Nectaron Quantum for notes of sticky cannabis, ripe tropical fruit, mandarin peel, and sappy pine.

Ube Coconut Pineapple Sour (5.7% ABV) – Our Ube Coconut Pineapple sour blends rich, creamy notes of ube with juicy pineapple and a hint of toasted coconut. It’s a taste of the tropics with a purple twist!

Other Lucky Envelope Recent Releases

Italian Pilsner (5.0% ABV) – The lagerheads at Lucky Envelope Brewing are excited to bring you our dry-hopped Italian-style Pilsner. We brew with great deference to the originator of this style, Agostino Arioli, using all-European malts and hops for notes of crackers, honey, flowery geranium, and lemon peel. Available on draft and in cans.

Beardless Brewer Red Ale (5.5% ABV) – In celebration of our 10th Anniversary we are excited to release this throwback. It’s been seven years since this beer was last brewed in 2018 and Barry is still working on filling in 95% of his beard. A refreshing and easy-drinking Irish-style red ale. The delicate character of English malts shine in this beer with hints of sweet caramel, toasted white bread, and a light cocoa powder finish. Available on draft and in cans.
