Wingman Brewers in Tacoma, Washington is hosting the Last Call Comedy Showcase this Saturday, October 22nd. The show is a midnight show, and will feature some of the best comedians in the Puget Sound area. The show starts late, and borrows its concept from Seattle’s Super Secret Show which, if the myths are all true, has been known to receive drop-ins from some very high profile comedians on occasion.
Also, I will be the host of Last Call Comedy Showcase. I used to write for Washington Beer Blog, which is perhaps a thing about which you neither know or care. About a year ago I stopped writing about sports and beer almost entirely and focused my energy on stand up comedy. I promise that my presence won’t be so awful as to ruin your experience, and that if you don’t like me, I will be booking many comedians who are much better than I am.
While writing for Washington Beer Blog I wrote a lot about Wingman Brewers, and became friends with Ken Thoburn (owner). Our conversations revealed that he was a huge comedy fan, and I couldn’t be more excited about partnering with a local brewery who cares about local comedy and the arts.
As a bonus, if you show up early, you can catch the early show at Tacoma Comedy Club (1.5 miles away in downtown Tacoma) and the tail end of Wingman’s Pumpkin Oktobeer Festival, all before the Last Call Comedy Showcase.
The show is at midnight, doors open at 11:30 PM on October 22.
(In the spirit of secrecy, I have it on good authority that you’ll be able to hang out in the brewery from 11 PM when the festival ends, and 11:30 when the comedy show starts, if you pay admission to the comedy show in advance)
