Celebrating Latona’s 24th Beerthday
Never one to miss an important birthday, I strolled up to Latona Pub last night to help them celebrate the big 24. To put things in perspective, I am 28 years old. That means that when I was four years old this wonderful establishment came to be, and while every few years I’ve moved houses, cities and sometimes jobs, it has stood solid.
As part of the birthday celebration, Latona asked breweries to bring in something creative and not too common, and the breweries definitely pulled it off. Black Raven brought in a cask of scotch ale, and Elysian contributed a cask of 409 Rye IPA. Among some of the brews on tap: Black Raven Beaktweaker IPA, Naked City Black Maria CDA, and the last of the Constellation IPA, made by a dozen different brewers for Seattle Beer Week.
A huge crowd turned out for party, with food specials in the kitchen (14 oz ribeye, to start), prizes raffled off, and an introduction to the local brewers who showed up for the event (which was a LOT of brewers). As the sun went down, we watched the Making of Constellation IPA movie – you can view the movie here.
Here’s a huge and heartfelt happy birthday to Bob Brenlin, Elliott Ryan, and the Latona team!
