Tonight is another Wednesday night cask crawl in Redmond – an Oostkant Cask Crawl. The Malt and Vine will be serving up a cask of Hale’s Supergoose. Not too terribly far away at Black Raven, they’ll be pouring a cask of Hefenweizer – their German style Hefe.
A few people have asked me what Oostkant means. In short, it means “Eastside” in Dutch.  Here’s the story. To celebrate their second anniversary, the Malt and Vine commissioned Black Raven to produce a beer. Or Black Raven offered? Doesn’t really matter. Black Raven happily produced a Belgian-inspired golden ale which was given the name Vertegenwoordigen voor de Oostkant! In Dutch that means, “Representing for the East Side.” The beer’s name reflects the roots of the brew and proudly proclaims that the Eastside is full of great beer and great beer people.
Oostkant Cask Crawl = East Side Cask Crawl = Wednesday night beer fun at Black Raven and the Malt and Vine.
