Fresh Hop Report week 4: get ’em while you can

Fresh hop beer releases are still coming fast and furious, but the end of the 2021 fresh hop beer season is in sight. Get out there and get some fresh hop beer while you can. And speaking of cans, have you noticed how many breweries decided to package their fresh hop beers in cans this year? Like those beauties pictured above from Old Stove Brewing. I mean, seriously, a lot of beers found their way into cans in 2021. An unprecedented amount of canned freshies. Impressive and convenient. Drink the draft now, stock the fridge for the coming weeks.

Looking for an event? Two big festivals going on this weekend. Washington Beer Fresh Hop Fest is a two-day affair, Friday and Saturday, at Marymoor Park in Redmond. It’s a vax-required, outdoor event with beer from 25 of Washington’s breweries. Seattle Fresh Hop Beer Fest is Saturday only, but there are two sessions – afternoon and evening. The event takes place at Magnuson Park’s Hangar 30 and requires attendees to take a “health pledge.”

Aslan Brewing – October 4th – Cascade Bloom is a study of the Cascade hop. We got our organic Cascade hops from Roy Farm hops and brewed with them less than 12 hours after harvest. These hops were seriously sticky going into the whirlpool. Aromas of sage, apricot, vanilla, and cedar pleasantly welcome you into this beer. A heavy portion of oats helps soften the mouthfeel and showcase flavors of cara cara orange, grapefruit, pine, and sage. A mild bitterness dries out the palate and leaves a refreshing (almost minty) sensation on the tongue.  Below, can art designed by @ArtByCiara.
