Dark Beer Fest at Flying Lion, December 19th through 22nd

The 11th Annual Dark Beer Fest at Flying Lion Brewing runs daily from Thursday, December 19th through Sunday, December 22nd, from 10:00 A.M. through Midnight. There’s also a special pre-func event on the 18th. Flying Lion Brewing is the host and will provide many of the beers, but the event will also feature several dark creations from other brewers and beverage producers.

“This year, [we’re] kicking things off early with a curated, and hyper-limited list of Barrel-Aged and Fermented beers on Wednesday 12/18,” said an announcement from Flying Lion. “The main event (and total-dark-beer-takeover) will be Thursday, December 19th through Sunday, December 22nd, 10am-midnight each day.”

Flying Lion Brewing turns all of the taps over to the darkness for this one. No tickets or reservations are required; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. It will be crowded. Bundle up and enjoy some of the darkness al fresco.

“Dark Beer Fest started at Flying Lion Brewing in 2014 and has grown from a modest 6-beer list to a full 40+ beer, multi-day event complete with cellared favorites, special releases, multi-year verticals, and plenty of limited availability brews. We’re talking all dark beer, all weekend, with styles changing each day. If you haven’t been, you’re missing out. The production team plots and plans all year long, so mark your calendars – the only reason you should travel this December is if you’re going to DBF!”

ANNUAL DARK BEER COLLABORATION – This year, Flying Lion is teaming with the creative and intelligent minds of Seapine Brewing to craft a Dunkelweizen. Release date 12/1/2024! Local, commissioned can artwork was created by Gwendolyn Wood.
DARK CIDER?! – Greenwood Cider is crafting a special dark cider for this event!
DARK HOP WATER – Why not? Flying Lion’s house-crafted NA Hop Water will be taking on a different tint for the 2024 DBF.
10AM EARLY OPEN + DONUTS! – Now an annual tradition (because who doesn’t love donuts and dark beer), the taproom opens at 10AM each day with FREE donuts (while supplies last) for the early risers! Many of the beers are limited and may only last one day, so come early and get that special dark beer you’ve been waiting for!
BEER FROM FRIENDS! – In the weeks leading up to Dark Beer Fest, they’ll be featuring kegs of dark beer from breweries in and around Seattle. Keep your eyes on the tap list so you don’t miss a single beer!
