A Brief History And A Look Forward At The Bellevue Brewing Company (“BBC”)
John Robertson and Scott Hansen founded the brewery in January 2010. After two years of diligent, hard work during the worst economy in 80 years, the BBC finally opened its doors in December 2012 and became the first and only locally owned craft brewery in the City of Bellevue!
During its first full year of production (2013), the brew team managed to produce 1,305 BBLs of delicious BBC beer; more than any other first-year brewery in state history! By the end of 2014, the company will have brewed more than 2,000 BBLs of world-class beer. In 2015, the company will install five (5) new fermentation vessels and one (1) new brite tank, increasing total brewing capacity to nearly 6,000 BBLs annual of production.
The BBC currently sells draught product throughout western Washington, and also distributes packaged product (22oz “bombers”) to grocery chains, specialty retailers, and convenience stores via its distribution relationship with industry leader, Columbia Distributors. Also during 2015, the BBC will commence packaging and sales of two BBC flagship beers in 12oz (4/6/12) can format; which styles have yet to be determined.
In addition to increasing brewing capacity, the BBC is actively involved in the ongoing identification of second and third locations to further expand and vary its culinary (food) program. Expected time frames for second and third locations are 18 and 36 months, respectively.
