Remember when you were a kid and you sometimes found your family a bit embarrassing? Well, sometimes being an American kind of makes me feel that way. I love the USA, make no mistake, but there are a few things about America that I find a bit embarrassing.
Two examples: Las Vegas and Black Friday. Seriously, think about what those things look like to the rest of the world.
This Friday—the Friday after Thanksgiving—will see impossibly long lines at the local Walmart as frenzied bargain hunters fight to save a few precious dollars. The Parkway Tavern has a different plan. At the Parkway Tavern in Tacoma, Black Friday will see a focus on Black IPAs.
So if you don’t feel like lining up outside Target at 1:00 a.m. to save $20 on a DVD player, consider comfortably sleeping off that Turkey hangover on Friday morning. Wake up at a comfortable hour and then head down to the Parkway to enjoy a dark beer.
Now that’s a Black Friday tradition I can embrace. Got bless America.

The lineup for Black Friday is as follows:
Deschutes Hop In the Dark, Schooner Exact Puget Soundian, Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous, 21st Amendment Back In Black, Alaskan Double Black(!), and Sierra 30th Anniversary Black Barleywine. Hooray beer!
