Beer and Girls Scout Cookies – at Full Throttle Bottles

Have they no shame? Don’t they know how hard we try to resist our cookie jones this time of year? This is the first time I’ve ever heard of someone hosting a beer and food pairing event featuring Girl Scout Cookies. Leave it to Full Throttle Bottles to hatch such an idea. There’s something about it that is so, I don’t know, wrong. Like Girl Scout Cookies aren’t hard enough to resist this time of year without bringing beer into the equation. Why bother trying to resist?

I suppose it’s an idea whose time has come. This Wednesday, March 4th at Full Throttle Bottles, a tasting event that pairs select beers with the varieties of Girl Scout Cookies.

When we launched, Borracha Baker made us some s’mores shaped like dinosaurs for our launch event. Then, we made an imperial stout with graham flour, marshmallow fluff, vanilla, and cocoa nibs with Amager and West Lakeview Liquors.

Maui Coconut Porter & Samoas:
Our CoCoNut PorTeR is a fresh handcrafted robust Porter brewed with six varieties of malted barley, hops and hand-toasted coconut. It begins with a malty-toasted coconut aroma followed by a rich, silky feel with tastes of dark malt, chocolate and hints of coffee. It then finishes with flavors of toasted coconut and hoppy spice to balance the finish.

ABV 6.0 | IBU 30
Paired with: Samoas (caramel and toasted coconut-covered cookies)

Deschutes Obsidian Stout & Do-Si-Dos:
Deep, robust and richly rewarding, this is beer to linger over. Obsidian has distinct notes of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt and black barley, with just enough hop bite to cut the sweetness.
Paired with: Do-Si-Dos (sandwich cookies with crisp and crunchy oatmeal on the outside and creamy peanut butter inside)

Oskar Blues Old Chub & Trefoils:
This jaw-dropping Scottish strong ale (8% ABV) is brewed with bodacious amounts of malted barley and specialty grains, and a dash of beechwood-smoked malt. Old Chub features semi-sweet flavors of cocoa and coffee, and a wee-bit of smoke. A head-turning treat for malt heads and folks who think they don’t dig dark beer.
Paired with: Trefoils (Shortbread)

Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout & Thin Mints:
The combination of coffee and stout will definitely get your attention. Malts: Northwest pale, C-15 and C-45 dextrine malts, Franco-Belges kiln coffee malt, Black, Roasted and Chocolate malts and flaked oats. Hops: Magnum hops add a touch of bitterness. Special additions: Milk sugar sweetens just a bit, and Stumptown coffee provides an invigorating richness

Paired with: Thin Mints (round, mint-flavored cookies with a delicious chocolaty coating)

Fine Print:  Due to licensing laws in the state of Washington, we are limited to serving no more than 2-oz per varietal/flavor and no more than a grand total of 8-oz. You must be over the age of 21 to imbibe. (And I don’t mean dog years…) Also, we reserve the right to change the tasting items at any time.
