Ziggy gets a facelift

Silver City Brewery introduces the new, reimagined Ziggy Zoggy.

These days, it is not at all uncommon for a craft brewery to produce lagers and there is no shortage of well-crafted pilsners, kellerbiers, dortmunders, and other kinds of lighter-bodied, highly quaffable lager-style beers. It wasn’t always like that.

Back in prehistoric times, like ten years ago, it wasn’t easy to find craft-brewed lagers and when you did, they were often token efforts. Something pale and bland, begrudgingly slapped together to appease the people say, “I usually drink light beer.” Yes, a small handful of breweries focused on lagers and produced very good ones, but most craft breweries ignored lagers.

It was probably in 2010 or 2011, way back in those sepia-washed olden days, that Silver City Brewery first released Ziggy Zoggy Summer Lager, a seasonal kellerbier.

These days they’re everywhere, but Silver City Brewery was a harbinger of things to come. They kind of beat everyone to the punch. Today I share the news that good-old Ziggy has gotten a facelift. Silver City has reimagined the packaging and the recipe. Here’s the announcement from the brewery. Note, the announcement was dated April 9, 2021.
