The Great American Beer Festival, held in Denver each autumn, is not only about sampling quality beer but it is also a beer competition. Breweries enter their beers to be judged by the festival’s professional judging panel. We are talking about thousands of beers, from thousands of breweries across the nation, that were entered into nearly 100 different style categories. In all, Washington breweries earned 19 medals this year.

A medal from the GABF is perhaps the most-coveted award in the beer world. You can see the complete results here (pdf), but below I share the list of Washington breweries that won medals at the 2022 GABF. I included the category for each award, as well as the number of beers that were entered in that category.

Particularly impressive, Washington breweries won two of three medals in three different categories. On top of that, two Bellingham breweries won medals in one of those categories. And speaking of Bellingham, breweries in that city won a total of four medals.

Category 4: Field Beer – 80 Entries
