Washington winners at the Best Of Craft Beer Awards

Local breweries earn 24 medals at 2022 Best Of Craft Beer Awards.

Now in its 8th year, the Best Of Craft Beer Awards is a beer judging competition held annually in Bend, Oregon. It is referred to as one of America’s fastest-growing beer competitions. This year, more than 2,700 beers from 482 breweries were submitted for evaluation, representing 49 states, provinces, and countries. See the complete list of winners here. See the list of Washington’s winners below.

During the weekend of March 4th through 6th, more than 100 professional brewers and judges from as far away as Switzerland gathered to judge the beers. They awarded 165 gold, silver, and bronze medals to 129 breweries. That includes 24 medals won by breweries in Washington state.

Not surprisingly, the two most-entered style categories were American Style IPA and Hazy or Juicy IPA. Each of those categories saw 160 beers entered for evaluation. An extra-special nod of congratulations to Blewett Brewing of Leavenworth for earning a silver medal in the highly contested Hazy or Juicy IPA category.

Homefield Advantage

While the competition is open to all breweries, there is still something unmistakably regional about the Best Of Craft Beer Awards. Oregon brewers earned more than 40 medals, the only state that brought home more hardware than Washington. California, which has far more breweries than any other state in the nation brought home 17 medals.

As always, recognize that not every brewery submits beer to this or any competition. If your favorite brewery or beer is not on the list of winners, perhaps it was not even in the competition. We know which breweries won, but do not know which did or did not participate. With more than 9,000 breweries in the U.S., it is hard to imagine a national or worldwide competition that included all breweries.
