Updated February 9th with more info about the events and some beer additions.
Washington Hop Mob – A series of events at various locations to celebrate the fullest expression of hop character.
This year’s Washington Hop Mob kickoff event is on Saturday, February 10th. On that day, Reuben’s Brews will host the Hop Mob Kickoff event at its Taproom in Ballard. At that event, they’ll tap a selection of Hop Mob beers (guest taps) alongside Reuben’s own Hop Mob creations. Thereafter, a series of events will follow at various locations across Western Washington. We call it the Hop Mob Roadshow.
Below, we share the list of events. Also, the list of this year’s Hop Mob breweries and beers. But first, what is Hop Mob all about?
It started a decade ago. Washington Hop Mob was originally a celebration of triple IPAs brewed by Washington breweries. At its peak, 50 breweries stepped up to create triple IPAs for the occasion. It has since evolved into something a bit more manageable. Not just triple IPA, though there are still some of those involved.
Today, a Hop Mob beer is defined like this: a Washington-brewed beer that offers outstanding hop characters, a complete expression of hop character, at least 50 IBU, and is brewed specifically for this occasion. All styles of beer are welcome as long as they meet those criteria.
The Hop Mob Roadshow events are intended to help you experience the beers responsibly. That is, the beers are available in taster sizes as well as full pours, allowing you to enjoy a variety of beers.

- Cairn Brewing – “Goblin deez Hops”, a Kveik IPA with Citra and Mosaic and standing at 5.3% ABV and 50 IBU.
- Echoes Brewing – Coldr CRISPR Cold IPA 6.9% ABV 45 IBU. Coldr CRISPR is a Cold IPA taken to the next level by mash hopping and fermenting with a lager yeast that’s been uniquely engineered to release an amazing bouquet of tropical aromas and flavors from the bound thiols and the copious additions of Galaxy and Citra hops.
- Elliott Bay Brewing – Hop Mob 24, double dry hopped IPA. They will also host an event
- Postdoc Brewing – Hogus Maximus Triple IPA, 10.5% ABV.
- Reuben’s Brews – They’ll produce multiple beers for Hop Mob this year, including at least one Triple IPA. Including, Blimey That’s Bitter Triple IPA. Reuben’s Brews will also host the kickoff event.
- Single Hill Brewing – They’ll produce a Double IPA for Hop Mob. Details TBA.
- Skookum Brewery – Dio Sabbath. Abv:7.7%. Hops: El Dorado (hotside), Mosaic, Crosby Comet, and Vista in the dry hop.
- Trap Door Brewing – Theory Crafting West Coast IPA. 7% ABV and70 IBU. Brewed with Chinook, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops. “Expect a crisp, bitter, and massively aromatic IPA built around some amazing Chinook hops we found during our visits to select hops this past harvest.”
- Trap Door Brewing – Blown Up Triple Hazy IPA. Hops: Citra Incognito, Citra Cryo, Citra, Galaxy, Nelson. “Loads, heaps even, of thick and juicy hops backed up by a big body with 30% wheat and oats. The aroma of fresh pineapple, and a strong presence of clementines as well as big juicy navel oranges, all accented by some lovely resinous notes. Flavor morphs into bags and bags of over-ripe orange, more pineapple, and resin to round out this beer making it not overly sweet. This high-octane winter special goes down easy and keeps us coming back for more.”
- Varietal Beer Co – TPK Triple IPA. “You’re going to need to level up to handle this year’s batch of TPK Triple IPA. Brewed in collaboration with D&D-loving friends from Portland’s TPK Brewing, this epic IPA takes an attack of opportunity at 10.5%, with a very balanced bitterness and finished with Chinook, Simcoe & Citra Cryo Hops for a bright citrus & sweet tropical fruit cocktail flavor!”
- Watts Brewing – Murder Hornet. 10.2% ABV. Murder Hornet is the biggest, meanest IPA we’ve brewed to date, clocking in at 10.2% ABV. Despite the high gravity, this beer is dry as a bone, with the malt getting the heck out of the way of all these hops. We packed the whirlpool to the brim with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Idaho 7 hops, then dry-hopped it with the same.
