This weekend, a way for you to support the local brewing industry

Release this weekend – one, big collaborative beer project

A lot of local beer fans would normally attend the Washington Brewers Festival on Father’s Day weekend. The annual event at Marymoor Park in Redmond benefits the local craft brewing scene. That event was postponed this year, but there is another way people can show some support for Washington breweries this weekend. It’s easy, just drink some Multiplayer Guild Collab IPA and help support the Washington Brewers Guild.

Brewers across the state are creating their own unique version of one single beer: Multiplayer Guild Collab IPA, a beer to benefit the Washington Brewers Guild. The official release is this weekend, Father’s Day weekend, at breweries across the state.

In all, 47 of Washington’s breweries are participating in the project. A number of them are hosting special release events this weekend, like Loowit Brewing in Vancouver (pictured above, from Facebook).

Here are the breweries that we know are hosting release events this weekend:

It’s been a rough year for Washington’s breweries and this program will showcase a spirit of creativity and promote a sense of unity, community, and collaboration. Brewed by individual breweries across the state, the beer is scheduled for release on June 19th (Father’s Day weekend). Brewers need to register by April 28th.

Over the course of the past 13 months, the Washington Brewers Guild worked for the benefit of all breweries in the state. It’s what they do, pandemic or not. Now there’s a fun opportunity for Washington breweries to return the favor and do something that benefits the Guild. Did I mention free hops?

WHO’S ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE

All current Washington Brewers Guild brewery members are eligible to participate in this collaborative event. This includes all members, regardless of brewery size.

Participants will receive the guideline base recipe with directions to create an IPA between 6 and 7 percent ABV. Each brewery is encouraged to put its own spin on the base recipe. No size limit, so breweries can produce as little as 3 barrels or as many barrels as they want.

Crosby Hops, which initiated the idea and the excitement, will very generous donate 1,100 lbs of hops — 22 lbs of hops to each of the first 50 breweries that register.

The artwork, which will be used for all of the beers, was designed by the good folks at Blind Tiger Design.

There are a number of other partners and participants involved. Visit the official website for more details and to get involved.
