Vaccination clinics at local breweries. Get a shot, get a beer

We’ve now reached the point that the vaccine is available to everyone. No more eligibility requirements, scrambling for appointments or wrestling with overworked websites. Just get the shot! Across the nation, health departments and businesses are teaming up to make it exceedingly easy for people to get vaccinated. In fact, they’re incentivizing people, in some cases, with beer. Behold, the power of beer.

This Friday, Burke-Gilman Brewing and Figurehead Brewing are each hosting no-appointment-needed vaccination clinics. The Seattle Fire Department will be there to administer the vax. Get a shot and you’ll get a bargain-priced beer. As close to free as the law allows.

This Friday, May 14th — Figurehead Brewing from 3:00 – 4:45, and then at Burke-Gilman Brewing from 5:30 – 8:00.

Burke-Gilman Brewing and Figurehead Brewing are not alone. A number of local breweries have either hosted, scheduled, or are working on hosting walk-up vaccination clinics. We share that list below.

Across Elliott Bay, at Crane’s Castle Brewing in Bremerton, they’ll host a similar vaccination clinic starting on Thursday, May 20th. It will happen on every Thursday thereafter as demand and interest dictate. In exchange for getting jabbed, the brewery will gift you with bargain beers ($1 or $2). Again, they cannot give it to you for free, but it’s the thought that counts.

“Get your vaccine and buy a beer for a dollar!” says Bridget Lundquist, the taproom manager at Burke-Gilman Brewing. “We are not allowed to give away beer in Washington state, but we are allowed to sell it for the cost of the ingredients. So, beers are a buck if you get your shot with us. If you aren’t old enough to drink, no worries – please accept an ice cream or a soft drink on us.”

In the meantime, here is the list of Washington breweries that have either scheduled pop-up vax clinics or have expressed interest and plan on doing so. I’d advise you to keep an eye on their social media channels for details. I will update this list as the info comes in. Otherwise, I leave you to your own devices.
