Two beer releases from Silver City – a new one and an old fave

A brand new milkshake IPA and a returning favorite hazy IPA

To be clear, Silver City Brewery is not overtly calling it a milkshake IPA, but if it walks like a duck…

I am not sure if there’s an official or universally accepted definition, but if it is branded as an IPA and it incorporates milk sugar (lactose) along with adjunct flavors commonly found in a milkshake, I think that’s a pretty good place to start defining milkshake IPA. By now everyone knows that it is a very polarizing style of beer: some folks love it while others detest it.

Anyway, here is the release info from Silver City Brewery about both beers.

We found our stash, man! This divinely dank libation is returning by popular demand! Only 420 cases produced! Get it first at the Taproom, with availability at select retailers in the coming days…

A limited, experimental variant of our beloved Tropic Haze IPA, Tropic Chronic exudes extremely dank aroma and flavor components resulting from the use of terpenes. Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in many plants, though many people commonly associate them with MJ, as the plant contains high concentrations of terpenes. These aromatic compounds create the characteristic scent of many plants, such as pine, lavender, as well as fresh orange peel.

In order to create a beer reminiscent of the PNW’s favorite herb, our brewteam arduously analyzed several specimens, carefully selecting a strain that emanates aromatic properties deemed compatible with Tropic Haze IPA. These specimens were then sent to a lab, so that the types of terpenes could be identified, allowing us to synthesize the desired aromatic qualities through terpenes derived from natural, non-MJ flora. (Note: Contains no actual MJ!) ABV: 6.4%

*Available in the Taproom, Restaurant and select retailers while supplies last.
