Timely news from Sumerian Brewing

Along with lots of great beer, Sumerian Brewing has a lot of news to share. Among other things, they’re releasing Insanity Triple IPA to coincide with the Washington Brewers Festival (this weekend) and will be raffling off tickets to the fest on Thursday at the brewery when they preview the beer. Also, they’v brought on an intern from the Skagit Valley College Craft Brewing Academy. But that’s only some of the news. Here’s the entire story.

Insanity Triple IPA returns to coincide with the WA Beer Fest!

sumerian-triple-ipaEXTREMELY LIMITED. This once a year release, with only 15 barrels produced, was gone in 3 weeks last year! Don’t miss out on this highly rated once a year beer! Triple the amount of hops found in our IPA’s, Insanity boasts a 10.2% ABV, a mild, clean bodied grain bill and a financially irresponsible amount of hops start-to-finish. We’ll pour and preview the Insanity on Thursday, June 15th in the pub, 5:00-9:00 P.M. Limit 2, and no Growler fills. Raffle every ½ hour between 5:00-8:00 P.M for a ticket to the WA Beer Festival.

Sumerian Brewing partnered with Skagit Valley College’s Cardinal Craft Brewing Academy to bring Tamara Rice aboard as an intern at the brewery.

tamara-rice-sumerian

In her words, her goals in enrolling in this program are… “to learn as much as possible about craft brewing techniques and the industry, make great industry contacts, and find satisfying brewery employment where I can be an ambassador for craft beer.”

“As a stand-up paddle endurance athlete and a certified personal trainer, the physical aspects of working in the brewery setting are a perfect match for me. The science of brewing fits my curious nature, and designing with the raw materials feeds my creative side. All in all, I feel authentic when working in the brewery setting.”

“Interning with the Sumerian Brewing team is an amazing opportunity! Both the Head Brewer Tyson Schiffner and the Assistant Brewer Hunter Quam have provided me with immersion into every aspect of the brewing process. Their good humor, patience, and attention to quality have made this internship a truly remarkable experience.”

“I will be attending the International Brewers Symposium on Hop Flavor and Aroma in Beer in July, and plan to enroll in the UC Davis Extension short course of “Intensive Brewing Science for Practical Brewing” later this year. Other resources that are providing continuing brewing education for me are my memberships with Master Brewers Association of Americas, Brewers Association, American Society of Brewing Chemists, and the Pink Boots Society. Volunteering with the WA Brewers Guild is also something that I look forward to continuing with.”

“It is exciting to see where this brewing passion and education is leading me!”
