The official beer of Seattle Beer Week – Black Raven Brewing

Cans of the SBW Beer released today

Each year the organizers of Seattle Beer Week select a local brewery to create the official SBW beer. This year, Black Raven Brewing got the nod to create a beer to commemorate the annual celebration. This year’s beer is a modern West Coast IPA.

Cans of the 2022 Seattle Beer Week beer are releasing today at both of Black Raven’s taprooms (Woodinville and Redmond). The draft product hits the streets on May 13th, when SBW officially kicks off.

Seattle Beer Week is an annual celebration of the city’s enduring love for craft beer. It is marked by events all around the Seattle area, as well as the release of the Seattle Beer Week beer. This year the dates are May 13th through 21st.

The actual name of the beer is Origin IPA. The brewery describes it as “A modern take on the West Coast IPA: a 50-50 split between pilsner and pale malt provide a clean and crisp pedestal to showcase the trio of hops. Nectaron (NZ), Galaxy (AU), and Mandarina Bavaria (GR). Intense tropical fruit notes, bordered by citrus and with a balancing hint of traditional pine and resinous notes West Coast IPA is known for.”
