Side By Side at Hale's

We’re at Hale’s brewpub tonight for the side by side sampling of IPAs. They are featuring three IPAs – Firestone Walker Union Jack (CA), Terminal Gravity IPA (OR), and Hale’s Super Goose. This is not so much about deciding which one is the best; more so, it is about comparing three different beers within the same style. They are three distinctly different beers called “IPA.”

Perhaps Dave Siler, the news Hale’s “Production Manager,” brought the Firestone Walker with him to Hale’s. Afterall, Firestone Walker is the place from which he hails, so to speak. We hoped to meet him tonight, but he’s had a long day in the brewery and that’s an introduction better left for another day.
This side by side thing is worth checking out. We enjoyed all three of the beers, but fully recognized the three distinct ways that they represented the style.
