Now Hiring: the entire beer industry, including Growler Guys

We recently added two new pages to the Washington Beer Blog: Seattle Brewery Jobs and Washington Brewery Jobs. Those pages, powered by Brewery.Work, feature job listing in the local beer biz. And dang me if there aren’t a lot of those right now as the industry ramps back up after a year of…. let’s just call it a year.

Not just brewery jobs, but other beer-related jobs too. Among the beer industry jobs I’ve heard about lately, Growler Guys – NE Seattle (Lake City) is currently hiring, immediately, for three positions. Here’s the info straight from the source:

The BEER BUYER at The Growler Guys (“TGG”) buys all the draft and packaged product consumed at the busiest craft beer bar in Seattle. That’s challenging and detailed – but also super fun! If you don’t shy-away from responsibility, are passionate about craft beer, know breweries, have purchased beer before in your past (for a bar or taphouse) and can tend bar in a fast-paced environment – this just might be your dream job. Our BEER BUYER makes most of their money when bartending and 100% in the tip pool.

So roughly 2/3 of one’s time is bartending and 1/3 researching/purchasing/corresponding with distributors and breweries.

Other duties include setting-up Brewer Nights, light social media, beer education to staff, loading product into the computer, light merchandising, cooking* and getting along really well with the great team that runs this place [other people also do * tasks]. When researching & ordering the BEER BUYER can clock-in from a home computer.

This might be great job for you if:

  • If you’ve done this before, in the Seattle area, for a place with at least 24 taps
  • You’re in the Seattle-area craft beer industry now
  • You don’t need Google Maps to tell you where the breweries are in Seattle
  • You can wax-poetic about beers

This might not be a great job for you if:

  • You’re relocating to Seattle and are still new to the craft beer scene here
  • You think you’d be great at ordering the beer – but haven’t bartended for a while or ever

More info: TGG has one of the biggest and prettiest PATIOS in Seattle. We’ve been busy all through the pandemic and we’re about to further expand our space. We have 60 rotating taps of craft beer, cider, kombucha and CBD, a vibrant bottle shop with about 400 items and a large selection of bottled wine.

TGG operates a counter service model, has a small but popular kitchen (about 25 items). But mostly — it’s all about our dedication to having outstanding craft beer on tap.

Can you Flex? While your primary job will be using your knowledge and passion for beer, you will also cook pizzas, circle the patio sometimes as our Floating Patio Host, wash some dishes, fulfill online orders, stock the cooler & for sure change a lot of kegs. Having Utility Players keeps our staffing compact and everyone’s share of tips and auto-grats higher.

All staff also put in an hour or three each month helping with grounds keeping, preventative maintenance, organizing, helping with social media, decorating and such.

Special Skill Sets: If you have light construction, management, social media, painting or other helpful skills please let us know.

** If you already know Michael or Kelly – feel free to reach out to either of us, soon, for any clarifications **
