New Beer Release: Diamond Knot Vienna Ale

Diamond Knot Brewing announced today the release of its Vienna Ale–a seasonal offering brewed for the cooler nights and damper days ahead. Look for Diamond Knot Vienna Ale in bars and on shelves near you. While we are always excited to hear about new beer releases, we are especially attracted to the label for this one (pictured below). Of particular note, look at the bottom right corner of the label and you’ll notice the official Washington Beer logo.

The Washington Beer logo makes this beer very easily identified as being from one of our local breweries. Most people who read this blog know which breweries and beers are local, but many of the people perusing the beer aisle at the local grocery store do not. I think it is important that people shopping for beer be able to easily recognize which beers are brewed by local breweries that employ local people, pay local business taxes, and (in almost all cases) support local charitable causes. But that’s just me.

Here is the press release from Diamond Knot.

Mukilteo, WA  September 6, 2011 – Looking ahead to cooler weather and falling leaves, Diamond Knot Brewing Co. is bringing back its Vienna Ale. Starting in September, this fall seasonal beer will be available on draft and in 22-oz bottles at retailers throughout Washington, Oregon and through Total Wine & More.

“This is an exciting time of year for our brewery, we have a lot of fun brewing this beer and it’s greatly anticipated by many of our customers” explains Brewmaster Pat Ringe. The Diamond Knot team has been working hard to prepare for this release.  “We have presold a large portion of our first production run. That says a lot about our customers and the state of craft beer.”

The Vienna Ale is a German style ale that is reddish in color and has a bright, crisp flavor with a bold, malty finish, making it quite easy drinking. Its complex flavors make it a great beer to celebrate the bounty of fall or to enjoy while tailgating, and it perfectly complements the hearty foods of the season. Vienna Ale has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 5.8 percent, and 25 international bittering units (IBUs).

Diamond Knot bottles several other styles year around, including IPA, Industrial IPA and Brown Ale. Additionally they offer four seasonal beers in bottles: Slane’s Irish-style Red Ale, Blonde Ale and Industrial Ho!Ho! Winter Ale, and produces several draft only beers.
