IPA Cask-O-Rama at Beveridge Place Pub - Thursday, November 5th

UPDATED – Fri., Nov. 6th – The winner has been announced. The new house IPA at the Beverage Place is Bodhizafa, a new IPA from Georgetown Brewing. I beat the competition and was selected by the pub’s patron as the new “always on tap” IPA at the Bev. (Beginning in 2016.)

Every year the Beveridge Place Pub celebrates Hoptoberfest, a month-long celebration of the hoppiest beers they can find. In addition to serving a lot of great beer, the Bev uses it as a way to determine which Washington-brewed IPA will be the house IPA for the following year. The pub’s patrons can nominate, and then vote for, their favorites all month until a winner is determined.

The whole thing leads up to the annual IPA Cask-O-Rama. This year, more than 20 cask-conditioned IPAs will be tapped on Thursday, November 5th. As the Beveridge Place Pub is wont to do, they’ll serve ’em up on taster trays for you if you want to sample multiple beers. The hoopla starts at 6:00 and they’ll announce the winner of Hoptoberfest at 8:00.

Winning Hoptoberfest and becoming the house IPA (regular, always-on-tap IPA) at the Beveridge Place is a big deal. A typical week will see the pub go through five kegs of IPA, so it’s a nice bit of guaranteed business for a local brewery.
