Introducing Watershed Pub & Kitchen – Opens Tomorrow, April 1st

If Ben Curran’s face looks familiar to Seattle beer enthusiasts, it’s because he was the bar manager at the venerable Fiddler’s Inn for more than 10 years. Ben is now the owner/operator of a new beer-focused restaurant and pub near Northgate Mall: Watershed Pub & Kitchen. We were there last night for a pre-opening event. The official opening day is tomorrow, April 1st. Pictures below.

The beer list at Watershed Pub & Kitchen is exactly as you would expect from someone who spent 10 years under the tutelage of Bob Brenlin (owner of Fiddler’s Inn, Hopvine Pub, and Latona Pub). Last night, there were 14 beers, 2 ciders, and a root beer on tap. While you may find more taps at other places, you won’t find a more carefully curated list. Plenty of great beers.

[singlepic id=253 w=350 h= float=right]Along with craft beers, Watershed’s menu offers appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and pizza. Also, a Mac and Cheese Bar that invites you to dress up your comfort food to suit your own palate and appetite. The spinach and beet salad was fantastic, and the BLT sandwich was huge and satisfying. Also hitting the spot, the Mama’s pizza, which features Italian sausage, Mama’s Lil Peppers, parmigiano riggiano, and fresh spinach.

Watershed Pub & Kitchen is located on the ground level of a new apartment complex. Ben explained to us that it was an empty box, waiting to be transformed into whatever they wanted. It is well designed, comfortable and pub-like, with just a hint of polish and pizazz. The space is large and well lit, with tall, south-facing and west-facing windows offering plenty of natural light.

It would seem that Ben has collected a lot of pint glasses. Someone has, anyway. They are prominently displayed as part of a very cool and, dare I say, unique design element. Our picture below does no justice.

[singlepic id=262 w=350 h= float=none]Watershed Pub & Kitchen is located in the Thornton Place development just south of Northgate Mall. More precisely, it is directly south of the Regal Cinema, across the street from the new transit center. Watershed is an all-ages affair with a bar area for grownups only.
