According to the Christian tradition, the 12th day after Christ’s birth was marked by the arrival of the Magi, the Three Wise Men. On that 12th day, the Three Wise Men came bearing gifts. This year, Reuben’s Brews is going to beat them to the party. On Friday, December 18th the brewery releases two variations of its award-winning Three Ryes Men barrel-aged barleywine.

Our 2020 Three Ryes Men variants are arriving this Friday, December 18th! As with our other recent barrel-aged releases, we are offering these bottles online-only at our web store – ReubensBrews.com/Shop – to minimize crowds and maintain social distancing. Bottle sales begin at 12pm on Friday, while supplies last.

his year we have two variants of our FoBAB– and GABF-medalist barrel-aged barleywine, both of which are double-barreled in unique oak casks. One is a return of a popular release from last year, and the other is a brand new barrel experiment that turned out more delicious than even we had hoped.
THREE RYES MEN: CINNAMON – We’ve taken our 2020 Three Ryes Men barrel-aged barleywine and aged it a second time in cinnamon whisky barrels. The additional time in the cinnamon barrels adds layers of complexity and baking spice, with cinnamon showing its earthy and balancing flavors to the liquid caramel and dark chocolate flavors of the base Three Ryes Men. This beer is one of our experimental brewer Thor’s favorite barrel-aged creations to date, and as a new experiment this beer is available in very limited quantity.
THREE RYES MEN: BRANDY BARREL – The 2020 release of Three Ryes Men barrel-aged barleywine brewed with multiple types of rye and aged a second time in apple brandy barrels. The base Three Ryes Men features a full body with malt driven caramel and chocolate notes, evoking a liquid rolo, and the second aging in brandy adds a depth of spicy fruit and calvados. A returning favorite from last year.
Both beers are exclusively available at our Taproom and To-Go Store, and will not see distribution. You’ll also have a chance to taste both beers on draft at our Taproom when we open our outdoor patio at noon. Bottles will be available for pickup beginning at noon on Friday at our To-Go Store and throughout the weekend. We politely ask that you pick up your orders of Three Ryes Men within a week of purchase and to maintain social distancing whenever visiting our Taproom and To-Go Store.
