In The Shadow Brewing steps out of the gate and into a pandemic

I’ve just added In The Shadow Brewing to our map of Washington breweries. The brewery and tasting room, which is located in rural Snohomish County, near Arlington, has been open for over a year. More exactly, reopened for about a year following a roughly three-year hiatus. So after three years, they reopen, and then just a few short months later, the pandemic changes the world. So yeah, being included on our “comprehensive” listing of Washington breweries doesn’t seem like too much to ask. My bad. Should’ve been on the list a long time ago. “Our first 3 months open, no one knew us at all,” says Cole Rinehardt of In the Shadow Brewing. “The next 3 months, it’s winter and no one goes out, the next three months? Yeah, we’re closed just like everyone else. Phase 2 hits and now people are finding us.”

“Yeah, 2020 has been a tough year so far,” adds Cole. “I think that most breweries have a plan or have figured out what they need to do to survive, and so have we. Now that we kind of know what we need to do, getting our name out there a bit more would be a good thing, especially coming into the slower winter months again.”

  1. And it’s just a really beautiful spot and the owners are wonderful people who do regular fundraisers for the community.
