Icicle Brewing’s Pamela Brulotte earns national recognition

Pamela Brulotte Honored as the 2021 F.X. Matt, Defense of the Industry Award

In addition to being one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, Pamela Brulotte is a fierce advocate for independent brewers. As one of the owners of Icicle Brewing in Leavenworth, Washington, she’s worked on her own, and also with the Washington Brewers Guild, to help advance the cause of craft beer in America. Now she’s earned at least some of the recognition she deserves. (Note, the picture above is Pamela but with a different award.)

Over the weekend, at the Great American Beer Festival, it was announced that Pamela Brulotte was honored as this year’s recipient of the F.X. Matt Defense of the Industry Award. This award is presented to an individual or company in recognition of their contributions and efforts in championing the small brewing industry.

Working with the Washington Brewers Guild, Brulotte helped professionalize the organization, grow its membership, support its lobbying efforts, and served as a mentor to the craft brewing community. Under her leadership, the guild challenged increasing beer excise taxes and secured marketplace access for brewers, increasing their ability to sell and market their beers.

Pam’s term serving on the Guild’s board recently came to a close. In July, the Washington Brewers Guild’s Executive Director, Annie McGrath, issued the following statement summarizing Pam’s contribution:

“Pam served most recently as Past President of our board after 4 years as President, and a prior term as an At-Large member of the board.”

“Pam oversaw the transition from an all-volunteer guild to the team we now employ and spent countless hours helping professionalize the guild and working on staff development. She made uniting our membership a big priority and has traveled the state to be a friendly ambassador for the guild, listening to our members to ensure that all feel heard and included.”

“In addition to her work building membership and staff, she jumped into the Government Affairs world to become a fierce advocate and face for our industry in Olympia and DC, which we know she will continue to do!”

“Pam has invested so much during her time with the board and we are so thankful for her and everything she has done for the guild!”

“Please join us in giving many thanks to Pam! While she is no longer on the board, she continues to serve on many committees and we know she’ll still be a big part of our guild!”

Congratulations, Pam! This is well-earned recognition.
