More than three months ago, Ice Harbor Brewery shut down its operation on Benton Street in Kennewick, Washington. (Did not impact the pub at the Marina on Clover Island.) The company is now very close to opening a new brewery and pub down the street on Bruneau Avenue. Apparently, they are 95 percent there, but getting across the finish line is presenting challenges. Keep an eye on social media for an announcement about the opening date.
“We know there have been rumors circulating that Ice Harbor BruPub is already open,” Ice Harbor Brewery said on social media. “We are sorry to say that is NOT the case, but it’s true we had hoped to host our soft open [last] weekend and hit the ground running on Monday. Unfortunately, we are still encountering multiple delays and snags beyond our control, so our open date is still not set.”
Though it was hard to say goodbye to the cozy old place on Benton Street, the new location will offer more elbow room, sprawling across 14,000 square feet, which means more room for customers and also more room for the kitchen and for the brewery. Ice Harbor says that it cost $1 million to renovate the space but it would have cost five times that much to build a new place from the ground up.
Reportedly, the vibe at the new Ice Harbor BruPub is comfortable and industrial, with enough TVs to show the big games, but not so many TV to make it a sports bar. A place to gather and socialize.
The new Ice Harbor brewery and pub is the latest addition to the Public Market @ CRW (public market at Columbia River warehouse). In its former life, the warehouse served as a juice factory for companies like Welch’s. Today it is home to over 60 local artisans and food producers that offer a variety of fresh foods, prepared meals, crafts, and specialty items under one roof. Soon it will be home to Ice Harbor Brewery. The new Ice Harbor Brewery is located at the west end of the Public Market @ CRW.
