Last month, Forward Operating Base Brewing of Dupont, Washington teamed up with two other local breweries to create a pair of beers to commemorate Veterans Day and raise funds for veteran-focused causes.
Rock Or Something Double IPA and Until Valhalla IPA will be released at an event marking the occasion at Forward Operating Base Brewing on Veterans Day—Wednesday, November 11th, from 3:00 – 10:00. All tips and $1 per beer will go to 22 Until Valhalla Foundation, an organization that empowers veterans to battle suicide.
One of the beers was brewed with Georgetown Brewing of Seattle and the other was brewed with Task Force Brewing of Lakewood. Like F.O.B. Brewing, the collaborating breweries have significant ties to the military.
Both beers were brewed using Veterans Blend, a special blend of hops created by Yakima Chief Hops to benefit a veteran-focused charity. The 2020 version of YCH Veterans Blend is made up of Idaho 7, HBC 692, Mosaic, Sabro, and HBC 630. This year F.O.B. Brewing was part of the selection team that designed the blend. For each pound sold, YCH is donating $4 to the Gary Sinise Foundation, an organization that serves America’s heroes and their families.

Rock or Something Double IPA was brewed in collaboration with Georgetown Brewing’s Matt Edwards, Rick Denkert, and Jack Treptow (all veterans), along with Mac McTernan, the founder of the PNW Beer Lovers group on Facebook.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Rock Or Something Double IPA benefits The Seattle Stand Down, an organization assisting military veterans and their families in every aspect of the military-to-civilian transition, providing one-stop access to various community and Veterans Affairs social services, focusing primarily on veterans that are either homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.

Forward Operating Base Brewing created Until Valhalla 2020 in collaboration with the folks at Task Force Brewing. This year’s version of Until Valhalla is described as bursting with smooth juicy tropical fruit. It weighs in at 6.5 percent ABV and was brewed using nothing but 2020 Veterans Blend (4.4 pounds of hops per barrel).
